St. joseph’s elementary school was started in 1954 under a private management in Udumpumchetha. Mr. Simon Thomas was the head master of the elementary school at that time and the school was driven by him single handily in the early days. In 1958, St. Joseph’s school was elevated to a U.P. School by authorities. Vayattuparamba Church took over our elementary school in early 1960. School and all it’s related establishments were relocated to a calm quite place called Vayattuparamba. Later on, the school was handed over to corporate educational society held under Tellicherry diocese.
In 1982, under the auspicious guidance of late Rev. Jose Manimalatharappel, St. Joseph’s school was elevated to high school stature. Mr. K.J. Mathew was St. Joseph’s high school’s first Head master. For governance and co-ordination purpose, the school was later on handed over to corporate educational society held under Tellicherry diocese. Rev. Mathew M. Chalil was our corporate manager who supervised the transition.
St. Joseph’s high school had new two-story building built in 1987 and was considered to be a premier educational institute in Taliparamba Taluk since then. Our first SSLC batch had a 100% success rate in state SSLC examination and the school continued its winning streak for another several consecutive years. St. Joseph’s higher secondary school has twenty divisions and approximately 820 students have been studying in the school every year since 1987. St. Joseph’s higher secondary school continued its high performance in different examinations amidst severe commutation problems and economic slowdown that the region had experienced in the past. The service and the activities that the school is providing to its students are truly laudable.
Sports is yet another area that our school has contributed a lot in the past and it’s faculty and infrastructure had helped it to mold sports personalities for our state. St. Joseph’s higher secondary school had an enviable track record in different sub district sports meet held in the past. We truly admire and value the commendable visionary actions of our former head master Mr. K.J. Mathew that had shaped our school to a modern day top notch educational institute.
